Formation for Mission

The Society of the Sacred Heart in Australia and New Zealand is joined in its ministries by many partners in mission, including Directors of our school boards, teachers and staff of our schools.  Our programs of formation for mission share the vision, mission, spirituality and charism of the Society with those who are engaged in our ministries and are not RSCJ.  For information about formation as an RSCJ, click here.

Fanning the Flame 2017 –  Leaders Ongoing Formation Weekend

Francis’ Call to a Personal & Active Faith

10 am Saturday 6 May to 12.30 pm Sunday 7 May 2017

Catholic Leadership Centre, East Melbourne.

The Directors of Sacred Heart school boards are responsible for ensuring the catholicity of the Province’s schools and their fidelity to the Society of the Sacred Heart’s philosophy of education as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education.  The Fanning the Flame ongoing formation for mission weekend helps them to keep up to date with contemporary Church teaching and the priorities, activities and positions of the Society.  It invites them to enter increasingly deeply into the charism of St Madeleine Sophie Barat.

In 2017 Fanning the Flame will focus on the first Goal of Sacred Heart Education – a personal and active faith in God. Participants will explore Pope Francis’ theology in relation to the Goal and learn from each other’s experience of addressing it.

Directors of Sacred Heart school boards and school staff in leadership roles in faith education are especially encouraged to attend.

Registrations close 4 pm 20 April 2017.

Province Retreat 2017

6 pm Friday 18 August to 12.30 pm Sunday 20 August 2017

Santa Teresa Retreat Centre, Ormiston, Brisbane.

The Sacred Heart charism is wholly contemplative and wholly apostolic. The Province Retreat underlines the importance of regular time for prayer and reflection in the busyness of life and ministry.

The Province Retreat focuses on nurturing each person’s relationship with God in order to support a contemplative and discerning approach to leadership that attends to God’s call. It is a silent, guided retreat.

The retreat is open to Directors of Sacred Heart school boards, school staff, alumnae and others who are interested in the spirituality of the Society of the Sacred Heart. Directors of Sacred Heart school boards are especially encouraged to attend.

Registrations close 4 pm 3 August 2017 – places are limited, so register early to avoid disappointment.
