Justice, peace and the integrity of creation (JPIC) is one of our international priorities. JPIC includes social justice work, peace building, care for creation, the defense of human rights and the promotion of integral human development.
Our JPIC Action
Members of our Province are involved in:
- ministries with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- ministries with asylum seekers and refugees
- awareness raising, prayer and advocacy on trafficking in humans, care for creation, and a range of other issues.
We support Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans and Aotearoa New Zealand Religious Against Trafficking in Humans, and participate in the social justice networks of Catholic Religious Australia and the Conference of Leaders of Religious Institutes of NSW.
The awareness raising and advocacy work of the Province feeds into and is assisted by the Society’s representation at the United Nations – Sacred Heart at the UN. The Society has Consultative Status with ECOSOC as an NGO, and has a representative to the UN based in New York.
