Advent Lament for Asylum Seekers

As part of the Catholic Religious Australia Justice Network, the Society of the Sacred Heart is supporting a National Lament Week of Prayer & Prophetic Witness during the first week of Advent – 30 November to 6 December.  This week of prayer is an opportunity to be in prayerful solidarity with the people seeking asylum in Australia and with the people being detained in Australia and off-shore, many the victims of harsh and punitive policies.

During this week, there will be small groups outside the immigration detention centres across Australia, simply being a prayerful presence.  Contact CRA Justice Network Coordinator Sr Suzette Clark justice@catholicreligiousaustralia.org.au if you wish to take part in this action.

This Booklet for the National Lament Week of Prayer Advent 2014, prepared for the week, is based on Pope Francis’ reflections at Lampedusa.  It can be used in community prayer, in schools, parishes and faith groups.
