Discover & Make Known the Love of God
What can be understood by this quote, in 2017? Is there an invitation embedded in these words?
Mabel Digby RSCJ invites us to maximum openness to the truth. It remains an important message for today! – what do you understand by the ‘doors’ and ‘windows’ of our souls? – how might you open not only your mind, but your soul, to the truth? – what does Mabel Digby mean by truth – the truth of God,of the Gospel, of ourselves?
A decision to give our lives to God is not a big, heroic, once-off event. It is a decision made and remade daily. We can choose to draw near to the Heart of God in all the small decisions that we make. – can you recall big and small moments of decision to give your life to God? – as your life unfolds, are you aware of giving yourself to God in different ways? – when has someone else’s small action revealed God’s love to you?
The pilgrim and the tourist may visit the same places but they travel very differently, and for very different purposes. – how do you understand the difference between being a pilgrim and a tourist? – is there a danger that our exposure and immersion efforts may fall into “voluntourism”? – do you see your life as a pilgrimage?
Sometimes we act as though success in our ministries depends on willpower and our own efforts. We risk becoming willful rather than being in tune with the will of God. – How might we nurture our trust in God? – What do we think success looks like? – Can vulnerability, weakness and trust connect us with the open Heart of God?
