This was a contemplative retreat focussed on the life and some of the writings of Janet Stuart RSCJ, an English convert to Catholicism in the late 19th century, who was later elected Superior General of the Society. Janet’s educational practice, spiritual insights and leadership qualities have created a significant legacy for the Society today.The 34 retreatants included Sisters, school staff and board members. As well as input sessions there was plenty of time for prayer and contemplation, both inside the buildings or outside in the beautiful grounds. On Saturday evening a liturgy was celebrated in the Main Chapel of the centre.
The silence that was kept by the retreatants over the weekend gave space for personal reflection and prayer. The outside gardens, labyrinth and walkways provided the opportunity for contemplation and a deeper appreciation of the beauty and power of creation.The retreat ended with a group photo and lunch on Sunday. This provided an opportunity to chat again with friends and new acquaintances. Then it was time to say goodbye as participants left for their homes, locally, interstate and across the Pacific to New Zealand.
